I'm absolutely convinced the two-party political system is incompatible with local government and counter-productive to meeting ratepayers' expectations. I've lost count of the number of council meetilgs that descendill!
J into a circus of twoparty verbal volleyball, usually over issues well outside council's jurisdiction and of little relevance to Ryde's communities. This election is trickier than most as there are a number of party hacks and party rejects hiding under the independent banner.
Council was simply a steppill! J stone for political novices, mainly of Liberal or tabor persuasion, to try and make a name for themselves so they could climb another rung up the party ladder. It's a merry-go-round that never stops and a different bunch of clowns will step off in the lead up to the next electoral event Traumatising events and dirty politics aside, there was somethillQ positive I will take away from Ryde after eight years on council.
I met so many wonderful locals Wllo have left lasting impressions and I hope they are put front and centre in all of council's future plans. Truly independent not affiliated with any political party.
At this Election, I'm running for the role of Mayor! My w ife Dr Lydia Bennett and I have lived in the area for 32 years. We love the character of the area and have made many very good friends here. We have an excellent team running for North Ward - Hunters Hill.
